The Spirit of Hostelling |
|
|
|
Rita Golden Gelman has been traveling the world
since 1986, when she gave up most of her worldly
possessions in search of new adventures.
Renowned author of "Tales of a Female Nomad" and
over 70 children's books, Rita will be our special
guest at the Spirit of Hostelling, San Diego Council's
Annual Meeting and Party on Saturday, October 20.
During her featured presentation, Ms. Golden Gelman
will share stories of the people and places that
inspired her along the way. "People are my passion,
she says. "When I go somewhere, I settle in with the
locals long enough to share the minutes of their days,
to know the seasons of their lives, and to be trusted
with their secrets".
This year's Spirit of Hostelling event will also include
buffet-style international cuisine, live and silent
auctions, and raffle prizes. The celebration will take
place at the University Christian Church in Hillcrest
(3900 Cleveland Ave, San Diego, CA 92103) from 6:30-
9:00 pm. Prior to the party, the Annual Meeting will be
held at 6:00 pm to elect the Board of Directors, honor
volunteers, and highlight outstanding members of the
hostelling community.
Tickets for the party are $25.00 in advance ($20.00 for
Hostelling International members), and $30.00 at the
door. Early registration is highly recommended-this
event is expected to sell out! The deadline for RSVP is
Wednesday, October 10. Click
here for more information and to register online,
or call the Council office at (619) 338-9981.
**Please note that the Annual Meeting portion of
this event is free and open to the public. Those
interested in participating in the party following the
meeting MUST pay for tickets.
