We can help you plan activities and events for your trip!
HI-San Diego hostels are more than just a place to stay. At our hostels, you can meet travelers for all over the world, and learn about the local community and environment in San Diego. Additional programs are available for groups who want to get more from their stay, including:
- “Kitchen Connection” Dinners
- Movie Nights
- BBQ nights and bonfires (at the Point Loma hostel)
- Walking tours (Downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, Tijuana, etc.)
- World Travel 101- A workshop on responsible travel and cultural awareness

Accommodations
We offer clean, modern coed and separate male/female dormitory-style accommodation (four- to ten-bedded rooms) with private or shared bathrooms. Linens, towels, and a housekeeping service are provided free of charge.
Private single, double, and family rooms with and without baths are also available.
Meals
Complementary Self Service breakfast is provided every morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Our Hostels have fully equipped kitchens. Dinners can be prepared especially for your group upon request.
Reservation Procedure
Groups must be booked and paid in full, 30 days prior to arrival with a signed contract. To hold a reservation, we require a 50% deposit of the total balance. Payment can be made by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or with an organizational or bank check drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars. Alternative Spring Break
Looking to spend your Spring Break in a socially conscious, meaningful way? With HI San Diego, you can enjoy a beautiful destination and make a positive impact- all without spending lots of money.
Our Alternative Spring Break Programs are for students who want more to show for their Spring Break than a hangover and a suntan. During your stay in San Diego, Hostelling International offers a variety of volunteer programs that address today’s most important issues, including the environment, immigration rights, poverty, hunger, and more. Based on your area of interest, we work with local organizations to provide volunteer work, educational activities, and opportunities to make a difference here in San Diego.

Religious Groups
We are the ideal location for the mix of fun, service, and reflection that your religious or church group is looking for – and we can save you a substantial amount of money. We are happy to help set up service-learning projects, recreational and educational activities for your group. Our hostels are conveniently located to many temples, churches and synagogues. If you have a large group, HI-San Diego, Point Loma is also the perfect location for a retreat-you can book the whole hostel (capacity 60 people) and have a relaxed and comfortable environment for your activities.
School Groups
Classes and clubs from elementary school through college are welcome at our hostels. We will help you design an itinerary that is both educational and fun for your class, or help you further explore the interests of your club.
Conferences and Conventions
San Diego is ranked third in conventions and expositions in the USA. HI-San Diego Downtown is located only four blocks from the Convention Center. If you make the reservation during a conference or convention, please note which event you are attending, and we will make an effort to place you with other participants. For event organizers looking to guarantee space for attendees, we can offer special rates and will work with you to set up accommodations that fit your needs. Please make a group reservation request and we will be happy to discuss your arrangements.
Orchestras, Bands, and Musical Groups
San Diego is a great destination for music of all kinds. We can provide a safe place for you and your instruments, or we even have you play in the hostel for our other guests during our Summer Concert Series!
Sports Teams and Clubs
San Diego is the home of the Padres, Chargers, and several university and college sport teams. Our Downtown hostel is located just a few blocks away from Petco Park, and during baseball season, we often have Padres tickets available for groups or individual travelers.
The Rock and Roll Marathon is the first Sunday of June every year, and the city is “overrun” with marathoners and their supporters. The HI-San Diego, Downtown hostel is located 2 just blocks from the marathon course, so we are a great location for runners and supporters visiting from out of town. We can also help arrange transportation to the start line the morning of the race.
