Planning a trip to Europe? Look no further than our neighbors at Le Travel Store, who will be hosting two upcoming workshops to help you make the most of your next journey.

Join HI-San Diego volunteers Tamara and Kevin for "The Insider's Guide to Paris" on Tuesday, September 11 at 7:00 pm. Please RSVP for this event to programs@sandiegohostels.org or by phone at (619) 338-9981, ext. 14.

On September 13th at 7:00 pm, he'll be sharing his personal tips and techniques, along with 30 years worth of stories and photos. Topics include itinerary planning, navigating the train system, alternative transportation, baggage and security, scenic routes, and towns to visit along the way. To register for "Exploring Europe (mostly) by Train", please call Le Travel Store at (619) 544-0005.

Reservations are required, as space is limited for these free events. Le Travel Store is located at 745 Fourth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter. Please note that the workshops will be held on the 2nd floor, and there is no elevator access. Visit Le Travel Store online at www.letravelstore.com.

    The Spirit of Hostelling
    Rita

Rita Golden Gelman has been traveling the world since 1986, when she gave up most of her worldly possessions in search of new adventures. Renowned author of "Tales of a Female Nomad" and over 70 children's books, Rita will be our special guest at the Spirit of Hostelling, San Diego Council's Annual Meeting and Party on Saturday, October 20.

During her featured presentation, Ms. Golden Gelman will share stories of the people and places that inspired her along the way. "People are my passion, she says. "When I go somewhere, I settle in with the locals long enough to share the minutes of their days, to know the seasons of their lives, and to be trusted with their secrets".

This year's Spirit of Hostelling event will also include buffet-style international cuisine, live and silent auctions, and raffle prizes. The celebration will take place at the University Christian Church in Hillcrest (3900 Cleveland Ave, San Diego, CA 92103) from 6:30- 9:00 pm. Prior to the party, the Annual Meeting will be held at 6:00 pm to elect the Board of Directors, honor volunteers, and highlight outstanding members of the hostelling community.

Tickets for the party are $25.00 in advance ($20.00 for Hostelling International members), and $30.00 at the door. Early registration is highly recommended-this event is expected to sell out! The deadline for RSVP is Wednesday, October 10. Click here for more information and to register online, or call the Council office at (619) 338-9981.

**Please note that the Annual Meeting portion of this event is free and open to the public. Those interested in participating in the party following the meeting MUST pay for tickets.
